I spend far too much time in the humor section of pinterest. Unfortunately for my husband he has to hear me mutter the word "ermahgerd" way too often. I give credit to his genuis mind for this little piece of heaven right here.

Comic Con!
Anthony is really into superheroes and Brandon has gotten into them with him so he really wanted to try to go to comic con this year. By some serious alignment of stars and God working in our favor, Brandon and I were able to get tickets to Comic Con on Saturday! We loaded up on the trolley bright and early and made the trip down there!
First of all, Anthony loved the trolley. We've never ridden it with him before, he was so excited to be on it! It was a long ride, about 40 minutes, but he did really well. He was really excited when we first got into comic con but was pretty quickly overwhelmed by the crowd. He was constantly asking to be held or to get up on someones shoulders. We heard them announce that some of the batmobiles from the movies were out back, so we thought we would take the opportunity to get some fresh air and see something that Ant would really love. So we're out there cruising around when we hear one of the cars start up, so we quickly head over to check it out. After the guy revs it a few times he turns it off and climbs out and they let one kid get in and take pictures. I was SO excited thinking they were letting kids get in and ran to get in line only to find out that that particular kid was a contest winner, and that no one else was allowed in the cars. These cars were roped off, you weren't even allowed to touch them.
Now you moms of toddlers know, once you've told your kid you're gunna do something, you need to do it. Especially if you've just told your 3yr old who's tired and worn out and in a batman costume that he's going to get to sit in a real life batmobile. I was on a mission, I was not taking no for an answer. I walked over to the tent to speak to the people who were in control of the car, and despite my pleading was being told no, no one was allowed in the cars. Until the head honcho walked up and saw Anthony. She gushed over how cute he was and just about lost her mind when she asked his name and he answered that it was Batman. So I told her, "Yeah we saw another kid get into one of the cars and we were under the impression that everyone could. I told him he could and I was hoping we could let him sit in one..." She replies "Oh you wanna sit in a batmobile?.... Lets go." She leads him over to the batmobile from the Tim Burton batman, opens up the velvet ropes and puts him right in! I couldn't believe it. A crowd gathered, ooohing and aaahing about how cute he was in his costume and taking pictures of him in the car. It was surreal.
Shortly after that my sister came and got him, he was so overtired and a 40 minute trolley ride home didn't sound fun. Brandon and I ended up staying until closing with some friends. We cruised each booth and people watched some insane costumes. To say there were some interesting costumes would be an understatement.

Top three reasons I felt old at the mall
On Friday my boss decided to be oh so generous and send me home at 2:30. Normally I would be excited at such a thing, but you see, my husband and I live about 40 minutes from work so we carpool. There was no way I was driving home, sitting for an hour then coming back to get him. There's a mall about 5 minutes away so I thought "Hey! What better way to kill a couple hours? I'll go cruise the mall!" Mistake. You see my friends, I am not all that young anymore and the stores in the mall were just a cruel reminder of that. Lets go over the top three reasons I felt ancient at the mall. We'll do it countdown style.
3. The music. Holy crap the music. I cannot stand this new dub step, techno crap trend right now. All it is, is a never ending, insufferable beat that just never ever ever stops. And so. effing. loud. God forbid you try to carry on a conversation over it. I'd rather shove jelly beans in my ears than listen to another minute of that shit.
2. The clothes. I will readily admit that I don't shop often. I have other things to spend my money on. Like kids. I know there are some trends that I'm just not on board with, but I guess I didn't realize how far from being trendy I am anymore. Why are these shirts so short and wide?? What an unflattering shape! Are those high wasted spandex shorts? How is that even comfortable? Is this a shirt or a skirt? Is that a unitard? Are those back in style?? I felt so lost in a sea of horrible clothes.
and the number one reason I felt old at the mall....
1. I kept wishing I had gone to Target. And not just because my chapstick had run out and I needed more badly. I mean, the clothes at Target make sense. The music at Target isn't ear piercing. I could have gotten chapstick and cruised around the home section looking at stuff I want to buy for my house. Or looked through the little kids section and probably bought things my boys didn't need but would have looked so cute in. I could have gotten a few magazines and some goldfish and hung out on the lawn furniture. That would have been a good way to kill some time.
Lets just say I was more than a little relieved to get an invitation to happy hour so I had a legitimate excuse to leave. So now I know. While my drivers license may say I'm not that old, I'm really not that young. Next time I get sent home early I'm high tailing to Target. There's even a Marshalls across the street if I feel like gettin crazy.

Swap meet treasure
I used to hate swap meets and garage sales, but in the last year or so something has changed in me. I blame pinterest.
This past Saturday my boys and I headed down to the sports arena to Kobeys swapmeet. Usually I don't find much, just little things here and there but this week I could have spent some serious money.
I was walking past a booth where a man was yelling everything was half off. It was getting later in the morning and people were starting to have "sales" to get rid of their stuff so they didnt have to take it back. I wandered into his area, hoping to find some half off treasures when I found it. My love. A vintage hard shell suitcase with a purple/pinkish satin lining inside and another smaller, matching suitcase hiding inside it. It was love at first sight. I looked at the little sticker with the price written on it and saw just a 4. This must be wrong. It's missing a 1 in front or a 0 after or something! I asked the man and no, these lovely ladies were only $4. And half off. I bought two awesome ass suitcases for $2.
Brandon hates them. I don't really know what i'm planning on doing with them. I'll probably use them as my suitcases when I travel, but that doesn't happen often. They're way too awesome to just stash away and store. I need a plan for these ladies.
I'm gunna cut someone if my pictures don't start rotating.

Epic battles
I live in a house of all boys, so there is some major play fighting that happens around there. I usually just stand aside and watching, trying not to get plowed over. Anthony has a major love of Star Wars so it's really not uncommon for a lightsaber battle to break out in the front yard. What? Your family doesn't fight with lightsabers? You're missin out.
I know, I know. In the movies Darth Maul and Darth Vader didn't even exist at the same time. But they do in our house and apparently, they are foes.
Have a good weekend, friends!

Incognito
Anthony, my three year old, loves costumes. I mean he loves them in a way that he spends more time at home in costume than he does in regular clothes. We've collected a nice little arsenal of alias' for him now. Batman, Spiderman, Capitain Amierca, and of course, Darth Vader. He also has pajamas that look like Woody and Buzz Lightyear, but those aren't technically costumes, even if he does wear them as such. Target the day after Halloween is a costume lovers best friend. Please excuse the quality of the pictures, most of them are cell phone pictures

Hunger Games -- The review!
I didn't even last until Sunday, I ended up going to a Saturday morning showing of Hunger Games. I was a giddy little girl, standing in line to get my popcorn and cheese, anxiously waiting to take in my favorite book on screen!
*WARNING! SPOILERS!!*
The movie was... good for the most part. There definitely were some parts that did not hold true to the book and that kind of bothered me. Especially when its something SO small like them changing the color of the cat... how difficult would it have been to get an orange cat?? Oh well. They completely wrote out Madge, they made Katniss buy the mockingjay pin from the hob and give it to Prim instead. I felt like they kind of downplayed the love story between Peeta and Katniss. I know there isn't a ton in the first book, but I felt like there was more than was portrayed. They did bring some parts of the second book into the movie, but I understand that was for set up for the second movie.
Now on to the big things that bugged me. When Katniss goes to the cornucopia to get the medicine for Peeta she takes a knife to head. In the book, it nearly kills her. She bleeds out intensely and is so injured she barely makes it back to the cave in time to inject Peeta with the medicine then passes out. She wakes up to him cleaning and bandaging her. -A good example of part of the loveyness they wrote out- In the movie, she takes the knife to the head and miraculously, gets just a scratch. Peeta rubs some cream on her and its gone. Not quite the tender, loving act that was in the book. In the book, at the end where its just Katniss, Peeta and Cato and the mutts arrive, the mutts attack Peetas leg as he's climbing onto the cornucopia and he starts bleeding out. Katniss makes a tourniquet for him to stop the bleeding. After Cato is killed and they announce that only one person can win, Peeta unties his tourniquet saying he's going to die from blood loss anyway, so she may as well kill him and win. They then proceed to pretend to eat the nightlock and they both win. Now in the movie, the mutts attack Peeta on his way up but again he miraculously comes away uninjured. In the end of the book Peeta loses the bottom half of his leg due to his injuries, and in the movie, he clearly did not. I think Peeta losing his frickin leg is a big thing to write out!!
Aside from a few small general things, the movie held pretty true to the book until the end. Even with all of the changes in the end, it still told the complete story. A bit of disappointment aside, I'll definitely be geeking out in line to see part two next November when it's released.

Hunger Games
I will admit it, I love Hunger Games. Im the Hunger Games equivilent of a twi-hard. I'm obsessed. I read all three books in 6 days total. (Did I mention I have a full time job, school, two children and a husband??) Then proceeded to endlessly harass everyone around me to read them so I could talk about them. I usually have a rule, after I read a book I will never go see the movie. Movies are notorious for ruining a great book, so i've always kept my distance. But i'm breaking my rule this weekend for HG. I seriously considered going to the midnight showing last night, but I get up at 4:45am for work every day so by the time the movie was over and I got home and got to sleep I'd end up with about two hours of sleep. And that's just not happening, i'm a bear when I don't get enough sleep. So I will wait. I'm not going to dare to go tonight or tomorrow. I don't want to risk my precious movie being ruined by some crappy little teenagers. No, i'm going to a Sunday morning viewing. The time that only old people go to the movies, to ensure that I'll be able to fully enjoy myself. I'm counting down the minutes until I can see my boyfriend Peeta on the big screen. Rainy days
I love weekends like this one we just had. Rain, wind, rain, and some more rain. We live in an area called Eucalyptyus Hills so as you can guess, there are a lot of eucalyptus trees around, and boy were those tall guys swaying in the wind.
This weekend also happened to be St. Patricks day. Let me tell you, we are party animals. I had some festivities planned for Anthony but the rain had other plans. One plan I was still able to pull off was our leprechaun invasion. The point was for the leprechaun to come in, trash the place looking for his gold then leave a few gold nuggets for the mess. It was so fun for Anthony and really easy to do. All I did was get some green, washable finger paint, made my hand into a fist and blotted the outside of my fist into the paint, blotted that painted fist onto the ground then usd my fingers for the toes and TA-DA! Tiny feet!
First, he came in through the bathroom window and made a mess of the bath toys
Then he used the facilities
Then ran into the living room...
And trashed the place!
Then, ran into the dining room, making a mess along the way
Then into the kitchen
Then right out the back door
But not before leaving us some gold for our troubles.
It was a bit of a mess but Anthony got a kick out of it and had fun so it was worth it. :)
I love rainy days and I love rainy day food. To me, cold rainy days equal warm comfort food. On Saturday I made a giant crockpot of slow cooked turkey chili. My turkey chili is no different than reguar chili, it just simply with turkey meat instead of beef. There are few rainy day meals better than slow cooked chili with cornbread. Since i'll be stuck at work all day today I decided to throw some food in the crockpot again so we can have something warm and delicious when we get home. On todays menu- onion garlic pork roast with potatoes and carrots.
mmmmmmmm
Yes, that would be a dirty wine glass from the night before behind my crock pot.... don't judge me! :)
